Due to continued success and growth, we are seeking an experienced and driven Mechanical Project Manager to join our team. We are committed to investing in our people. The Role

  • The Mechanical Project Manager will be responsible for the safe, profitable and timely delivery of Mechanical (and wider MEP) projects, ensuring quality standards are met while exceeding client expectations.
  • Managing Mechanical project delivery from pre‑construction through to completion and final account.
  • Operational management of project design elements in collaboration with the in‑house design and engineering teams.
  • Proactively planning, managing and monitoring directly employed labour and subcontractors.
  • Building, controlling and forecasting labour and project budgets.
  • Managing project programmes in conjunction with the in‑house planning department.
  • Providing front‑end and pre‑construction support where required.
  • Leading, developing and mentoring site teams, identifying talent and encouraging progression within the workforce.
  • Producing and managing contract documentation including method statements, risk assessments, RFIs and technical submissions.
  • Chairing and contributing to progress meetings with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring Mechanical systems are installed, tested and commissioned in accordance with specifications, legislation and best practice.
  • Preparing project handover documentation including O&M manuals and record drawings.
  • Maintaining strong professional relationships with clients and supporting ongoing client development.
  • Ensuring all works are delivered in line with FES Group’s Integrated Management Systems.
  • Promoting a strong Health & Safety culture and ensuring company policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Driving a 'zero defects' and right‑first‑time approach to project delivery.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a Mechanical Project Manager role within the construction industry.
  • Experience working with Tier 1 main contractors.
  • Strong understanding of design and build procurement routes.
  • In‑depth knowledge of M&E systems and construction processes.
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully managing teams and delivering mechanical installations.
  • Experience producing contract documentation and technical submissions.
  • Understanding of commissioning, handover and close‑out processes.
  • Experience with off‑site fabrication and modern methods of construction.
  • Strong Health & Safety leadership on live construction sites.
  • Commercially aware with strong cost control and budget management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Flexible approach with the ability to travel between office and site locations.
  • Electrical experience is advantageous but not essential.
