The FES / OCS Group is one the largest independent technical services companies in the UK with over 60 years
of experience providing services solutions to a wide range of corporate and public sector clients. As a NERS
accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP), FES Energy delivers contestable infrastructure including the
installations of cabling, Electrical Substations and Grid connections – up to and including 33kV.
Due to rapid growth and expansion within the FES Energy business we are currently recruiting an Electrical
Contestable Designer / Coordinator preferably with experience in estimating to work within our High Voltage /
Utilities Department.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Produce design approval packages and management of the design approval process with the UK
DNOs/IDNOs.
• Interface with and attend meetings with clients, IDNO or DNO.
• Coordinate project requirements at the design and construction stage with civil, electrical, protection
& control designers and other third parties where required.
• Coordinate design with clients, sub-contractors, consultants and designers.
• Lead project from tender design until the handover to the Project Delivery Team.
• Support the Project Delivery Team during construction and assist in the Project Design Change Process.
• Configure and maintain the project program through the design phase of the project.
• Preparation of design phase safety documentation on the projects, Design Risk Assessments and
preliminary H&S plans where necessary.
• Undertake Network demand calculations and design Points of Connection (POCs) from existing electric
networks to provide technical solutions and quotations for 3rd party POC Applications.
• Liaise with the MU team and wider business to resolve any issues.
Key Skills and Qualifications
• Previously worked within an ICP/IDNO/DNO
• Knowledge of LV/11kV networks
• Knowledge of G81 specifications
• Competent user of various electrical design software
• Committed and hard working
• Organised, with good time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
• Can adapt to different tasks quickly, efficiently and confidently
• Capable of working in an autonomous or team orientated environment
• Well-presented and confident
• Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office and Estimating software
• Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally
The roles will be based at our Head Office in Stirling. Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8-5pm and 8-3.30pm
