Job Description:

We are now recruiting for a Project Controls Engineer to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project at the initial design phase which will run concurrently with the completion of main works contracts. The team will operate under a collaborative Rail Systems Alliance structure, designed to manage interfaces and resolve any program conflicts.

Location: You will be based in London and may be required at times to travel to Birmingham.

Role responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining and updating project schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
  • Support the preparation of weekly and monthly project performance reports to suit both internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Support with performing Earned Value Analysis and preparing related reports.
  • Support in monitoring Key Performance Indicators with the Contractor.
  • Help maintain project documentation including change logs, risk registers, and cost reports.
  • Support the development of requirements for specific resource-loaded schedules.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather project information.
  • Ensure project data is accurately recorded in project management systems.
  • Provide administrative and analytical support to the project controls team.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Project Controls assistant/engineer on medium scale projects.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles (EVM, project planning or risk management concepts).
  • Experience in working on NEC 3 or 4 projects.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and general IT skills.
  • Ability to perform assignments independently with supervision and guidance as required.
  • Ability to deliver timely high-quality reports.
  • Taking initiative and approaching challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and liaise with a number of different stakeholders.

The following are desirable requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related qualification or NVQ equivalent level.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Power BI, or similar software.
