Geotechnical Design Manager
Reports to: Design Delivery Director/Lead
Location: London Office and Buckinghamshire

Ferrovial Construction Ltd UK have 7 major Infrastructure projects across the UK; HS2 Enabling works, HS2 Main Works, Silvertown Tunnel (STT), Heathrow (H7), Thames Tideway (TTT), Northern Line Extension (NLE) and Farringdon Station.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the geotechnical aspects for the HS2 Track Contract, including Calvert Depot. The track systems geotechnical works include piling and earthworks at Calvert as well as the checking of any geotechnical information hand overed from Main Works to Track systems contractor as well as assessing any geotechnical aspects coming from the Alliance.
Responsible for analysing the hand over data from the Main Works for the frost protection layer as well as the subgrade for aspects such as heave, settlements and constructability geotechnical topics for our track.
Manage and lead any geotechnical aspects related to Calvert depot, including piling works and earthworks movements in the site, providing the foundation required to the IMD building and railhead.
Attending the weekly meetings with the construction team and broader design team and client in Birmingham, Calvert and/or London.
Attending / chairing meetings for geotechnical issues such as Geohazards that become apparent during construction and provide technical support for their mitigation.
Support the Client with identifying change, risk and opportunities and constantly striving for efficiencies and cost savings.
Scope review of construction stage GI and surveys.
Aid in the study of optimization and liaison with the commercial, planning, design delivery teams, and designers.
Support the link and coordination with construction teams for management of geotechnical related issues.
Provide technical input and support to relevant commercial communications (SNCs, NCRs, CEs, Departures, etc.).
Close liaison with the Engineering Managers to ensure the delivery on time, optimized and in accordance with the Client\βs requirements is essential.
Close out geotechnical issue within area of responsibility in timely manner.
Review of monitoring reports and certificates. Support progressive technical assurance during design, construction and handover process.
Key Skills And Experience
Degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering
Knowledge of key aspects of geotechnical design and construction methodology
Knowledge of settlement and heave analysis on tracks, Rayleigh waves and associated mitigation measures
Good knowledge of relevant geotechnical standards and their applicability for design construction.
Experience in piling design/construction
Experience in pile testing and interpretation
Experience in managing and liaising with third parties and other contractors
Very good communication skills
