We are recruiting for a Project Controls Manager to support the HS2 Track infrastructure project. Track is currently at an early design stage and running in parallel with the completion of the main works contracts. The track team will be ready to mobilise as soon as the civil works are complete and will operate under a collaborative Rail Systems Alliance structure, designed to manage interfaces and resolve any program conflicts. Project members will work together on design, access, resources, and logistics to achieve shared goals for cost and schedule.

Location: You will be based in London and may be required at times to travel to Birmingham.

Role responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of project schedules and budgets, including monitoring progress against both to ensure delivery milestones and cost targets are met.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of weekly and monthly project performance reports, ensuring they meet internal governance standards and external reporting requirements.
  • Perform and oversee Earned Value Analysis and prepare related reports.
  • Oversee the monitoring of Key Performance Indicators in collaboration with the Contractor.
  • Maintain project documentation including change logs, risk registers, and cost reports.
  • Define and oversee the requirements for resource-loaded schedules, ensuring they are accurate and support effective project planning and control.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather project information.
  • Ensure project data is accurately recorded in project management systems.
  • Provide leadership and analytical support to the project controls team.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Project Controls Manager on medium / large-scale projects, with a strong track record of leading teams and delivering high-quality project controls outputs.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project management principles (EVM, project planning and risk management concepts).
  • Experience delivering project controls on NEC3 / NEC4 contracts, with a strong understanding of contractual requirements.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and general IT skills.
  • Ability to deliver timely high-quality reports.
  • Taking initiative and approaching challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and liaise with a number of different stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of project management tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Power BI, or similar software.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related qualification or NVQ equivalent level (desirable).
