Senior OT / SCADA Integration & Commissioning Lead (Industrial Automation & Infrastructure Projects) 1. ROLE PURPOSE We are seeking a Senior OT / SCADA Integration & Commissioning Lead to support the delivery of complex industrial and infrastructure projects, with a focus on system integration, commissioning and technical coordination in field environments. The role is designed for a senior technical professional evolved into coordination, capable of operating between: * hands-on SCADA / PLC work * system-level integration * coordination of EPC contractors, vendors and operations This is not a pure Project Manager role, but a technical delivery and integration role. Based: London based 2. ROLE CONTEXT The position sits within projects characterised by: * multi-vendor SCADA environments * complex OT system integration * commissioning-intensive phases * interaction with EPCs, OEMs and plant operators Key challenge: ensuring systems are not only installed, but fully integrated and operational in real conditions 3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 3.1 Commissioning & Integration Lead and execute SCADA and control systems commissioning activities Validate integration between: PLC systems SCADA platforms third-party/OEM systems Ensure correct behaviour of: signals commands vs feedback system states 3.2 Industrial Networks & Communications (Core Capability) Lead and support the configuration, validation and troubleshooting of industrial communication networks as a core part of system integration and commissioning. Network Configuration & Infrastructure Work hands-on with industrial network infrastructure, including: configuration of managed industrial switches IP addressing aligned with system architecture VLAN configuration and traffic segmentation basic routing concepts (subnets, gateways, inter-network communication) Support and validate network topologies: star / ring / redundant architectures distributed I/O networks separation between control, SCADA and external systems Industrial Protocols & Data Flow Ensure correct configuration and operation of: Profinet, Modbus TCP, OPC UA Validate end-to-end data flow across: field devices, PLCs, SCADA systems Identify and resolve: data inconsistencies or stale values intermittent communication addressing/configuration mismatch protocol-level issues Network Diagnostics & Troubleshooting Diagnose issues such as: connectivity failures latency / instability physical layer issues (cabling, ports, redundancy switching) switch misconfiguration Apply structured troubleshooting: trace signals (field → PLC → network → SCADA) isolate root cause (logic vs network vs configuration) validate real vs displayed system state Integration with System Behaviour Ensure network configuration supports: reliable command execution feedback consistency real-time performance Detect scenarios where: systems appear functional but are degraded SCADA does not reflect real system state Coordination with OT & Infrastructure Teams Interface with: network / IT / OT security vendors / integrators Align: network configuration system architecture commissioning requirements Operational Reliability & Readiness Validate that networks are: stable, properly structured, aligned with system criticality Ensure readiness for: FAT / SAT, commissioning, handover System Coherence & Cross-Layer Ownership (PLC – Network – SCADA) Own and ensure end-to-end coherence of system behaviour across: field devices, PLC logic, industrial network, SCADA systems Single Source of Truth Ensure full alignment between: PLC states, transmitted data, SCADA representation Resolve discrepancies between: commanded vs actual state, logic vs visualisation, real system vs operator perception End-to-End Traceability Validate traceability of signals: field → PLC → network → SCADA Diagnose issues by: tracing signal origin, analysing transformations, validating final behaviour False State Detection Identify situations where: SCADA shows operation but system is not functioning feedback does not reflect real status communication creates false truths Ensure system avoids: misleading status, silent failures, undetected degradation Cross-Domain Integration Ensure that: PLC logic, communications, SCADA operate as a single coherent system. Resolution Ownership Take responsibility for resolving issues across: PLC, network, SCADA avoiding gaps between disciplines or vendors Operational Trust Ensure system behaviour is: predictable, verifiable, aligned with reality 3.4 Technical Coordination Act as interface between: EPC contractors, SCADA vendors, engineering teams, operations Align implementation with operational needs Coordinate during: startup, shutdown, commissioning 3.5 System Validation & Troubleshooting Identify and resolve integration issues across: communications, SCADA-PLC interaction, instrumentation Validate full system behaviour under real conditions SCADA & OT Systems Support SCADA platforms: PcVue, PCS7, WinCC / AVEVA Ensure: proper alarms, monitoring, data coherence 3.7 Project Delivery Support Support FAT/SAT Contribute to delivery readiness Mitigate risks related to: Integration, sequencing, dependencies 4.
