Key Responsibilities
- Coordination of MEP and CMS services across all project stages, ensuring integration with civil works.
- Support design team with design development, reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical submissions.
- Contribute to MEP coordination meetings and track actions to closure.
- Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve technical issues.
- Manage and coordinate the MEP and CMS design for the HS2 track slab (Resilient in situ and/or Standard slab) throughout the design and construction technical life cycles, working with the design and construction teams, the designers, client and stakeholders.
- Monitor progress of MEP works and report regularly to the Project Manager.
- Ensure all MEP installations meet statutory, regulatory, and client requirements.
- Ensure the CMS design complies with the appropriate client standards, including construction design management (CDM) regulations.
- Coordination of the CMS design delivery for a high-speed track contract, under the guidance of the Track Design Lead, including integration of any temporary stages, integration of assurance and managing the delivery of the associated digital deliverables, in line with the construction and overall project programme, cost and client requirements.
- Coordinate the designers and the supply chain inputs needed to achieve an efficient and compliant design for these elements.
- Close liaison with the Designer to ensure the design delivery on time, optimized and in accordance with the client’s requirements is essential.
- Work closely with supply chain providing the CMS elements, client subject matter expert and other contractors. The role involves contributing to the management of the associated interfaces.
- Attend the weekly meetings with the construction team and broader design team and client in Birmingham and/or London.
- Attend/chair meetings for track design related issues during design and construction and provide technical support for their mitigation.
- Support the Client with identifying change, risk and opportunities and constantly striving for efficiencies and cost savings.
- Aid in the study of optimization and liaison with the commercial, planning, design delivery teams, and designers.
- Support the link and coordination with construction teams for management of track related issues.
- Provide technical input and support to commercial administration of the contract.
- Close out track slab issues within area of responsibility in timely manner.
- Review of monitoring reports and certificates.
- Support delivery of progressive technical assurance during design, construction and handover process.
Minimum Requirements for the Position
- Experience in design systems integration of Railway Projects desirable.
- Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
- CEng (PWAy Institute or ICE) desirable.
- Experience relevant to rail track on major construction projects, including design, modelling, or construction support.
- A sound understanding of rail design codes.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation, impact mitigation and dealing with statutory authorities.
- Experience in managing and liaising with third parties and other contractors.
- Collaborative team player with good communication skills.
- Organised and detail-oriented, with ability to track multiple interfaces and actions.
- Basic awareness of BIM / 3D design tools and coordination processes.
- Professional and proactive approach when working with designers, partners and stakeholders.
