The Ferrovial BAM Joint Venture has a successful history of delivering critical infrastructure projects for the UK on time and to budget together in a joint venture partnership. The JV is now delivering the track infrastructure across the entire HS2 route. We are seeking a highly experienced and forward‑thinking Chief / Principal Engineering Surveyor to lead the engineering surveying strategy and delivery across all HS2 Track Systems works. This is a senior, high‑impact role that spans all three project Lots, with responsibility for technical leadership, assurance, innovation, and stakeholder collaboration on one of the UK’s biggest infrastructure programmes.

You will oversee and direct survey operations from project initiation through to final handover, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and digital innovation throughout. This is a unique opportunity to help shape national surveying practices, drive the adoption of advanced digital construction methods, and mentor the next generation of survey professionals in a high‑profile, industry‑defining environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the Survey Management Plan for the HS2 Track Systems contract.
  • Lead all survey‑related design, planning and operational activities, including:
    • Development, Implementation and Management of Survey Control Network
    • Management of information and as‑built verification (TESB – Topographical Engineering Survey Baseline)
    • Setting out for civils and permanent way (P‑Way)
    • Reality Capture Monitoring
    • GIS integration
    • Final survey handover deliverables
  • Align survey activities with wider project strategies in engineering, commercial, and digital delivery.
