The Role
We are entering an exciting period of portfolio transformation, with an established Uro‑Oncology franchise and a significant private market launch planned for 2027. This is a rare opportunity to own a commercially meaningful P&L from day one while shaping the launch strategy of a first‑in‑class therapy.
As Commercial Lead - Uro‑Oncology, you will inherit an established, commercially active portfolio, including a long‑acting GnRH antagonist and branded/generic formulations in urology, and be responsible for sustaining and growing its commercial performance through non‑sales‑force‑promoted channels including digital, pricing strategy and key account partnerships.
Alongside portfolio stewardship, you will lead the Commercial and Market Access strategy for a novel intravesical gene therapy launching into the UK private market in 2027 — one of the most commercially significant launches in the company’s recent history. This includes building the private market access infrastructure, developing insurer engagement materials, and delivering pre‑launch and launch activities with a National KAM – Uro‑Oncology who will be the field‑based commercial execution partner.
This role also carries a strategic projects dimension, working directly with the GM UKIE on enterprise‑wide initiatives across the business — giving the right candidate exposure and influence well beyond a traditional brand management role.
Commercial Leadership Established Products (20%)- Drive commercial performance of the established portfolio through pricing optimisation, channel strategy and customer segmentation — without a traditional sales force model.
- Partner with the Digital Marketing Lead to ensure digital channel execution is aligned to commercial objectives.
- Develop and manage annual brand plans, operational plans and budget cycles for the portfolio.
- Track and report portfolio performance against KPIs to the BUD and senior leadership team.
- Lead the commercial and market access strategy for the 2027 private market launch.
- Develop and maintain private insurer engagement materials including budget impact models, clinical dossiers and prior authorisation packs for BUPA, AXA, Vitality and others.
- Build and manage the relationship between field execution (National KAM) and the broader access and medical strategy.
- Support insurer negotiations and clinical advisory board engagement alongside Medical Affairs.
- Track private market access metrics, insurer coverage status and patient funding approvals.
- Create and maintain market access materials for both the established portfolio and the launch product — including payer dossiers, value communication tools and KOL‑facing clinical materials.
- Work cross‑functionally with Medical Affairs, Regulatory and Global teams to ensure materials are compliant, current and fit for purpose.
- Support the development of the SMC PACE dossier scoping in collaboration with external health economics partners.
- Act as a trusted Commercial Lead on selected enterprise‑wide strategic initiatives as directed by the GM UKIE.
- These may include business development evaluations, commercial due diligence, organisational design projects or cross‑BU strategic planning exercises.
- Represent the Uro‑Oncology BU perspective in company‑wide forums and leadership discussions.
- Full P&L ownership from day one — real commercial accountability, not a support function.
- A ringside seat on one of the most strategically interesting private market launches in UK urology.
- Direct line to the BUD and regular exposure to the GM and senior leadership.
- A genuinely varied role spanning portfolio management, launch strategy, access and strategic projects.
- Experience in specialty pharmaceutical commercial roles (brand management, portfolio management or market access), ideally within oncology or urology.
- Demonstrable P&L management experience with accountability for revenue and investment decisions.
- Strong understanding of UK market access: NHS, private market, PMI reimbursement dynamics and insurer engagement.
- Experience developing market access materials, value dossiers or payer‑facing content.
- Comfortable operating in a lean, hands‑on environment without a large supporting infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and financial literacy — able to build and interrogate commercial models.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills — credible with senior internal and external audiences.
- Degree‑educated; life sciences or business discipline preferred.
- Experience in a non‑sales‑force‑promoted commercial model (digital, pricing, tender or account‑led).
- Exposure to private market oncology or urology — insurer engagement, PMI reimbursement or private hospital networks.
- Experience managing or influencing field‑based teams.
- Familiarity with ATMPs, gene therapies or specialty launch products.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
We strive to build and maintain an inclusive and diverse workplace with equal opportunities and mutual respect for all employees regardless of their backgrounds and socioeconomic status.
