We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Supervisor to lead and manage our team effectively. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and excellent organisational skills. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee daily operations, motivate staff, and ensure the delivery of exceptional service within a fast-paced environment. The Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining high standards of performance, fostering a positive work atmosphere, and supporting organisational goals.

Location and Travel

Office based for two days, travelling to sites/survey locations, dependent on workload, three days per week.

Responsibilities

  • On-site team management
  • Supervision and oversight of the service driver
  • Daily calls and interaction with the on-site teams in regards to progress, delays, material requirements and any plant issues – including morning check ins
  • Report all technical, programme, plant and material issues to the wider team.
  • Check the works on site whilst ensuring; Health and Safety Compliance
  • Ensure the correct PPE is on site
  • COSHH Compliance
  • Oversee completion of time sheets and diaries
  • Carry out site audits (at least three per week) and ensure vehicle checks are complete
  • Arrange for reinstatement of the works with the surfacing teams, in liaison with the surveyor.
  • Plan, arrange and attend all structural inspections
  • Plan and implement minor traffic management.
  • Support and implement major TM where required and liaise with FTM.
  • Report back to the office any findings and record photographs.
  • Be responsible for the plant once the order is raised and the plant is delivered to site.
  • Attempt to resolve any plant issues with the support of the surveyor.
  • Off hire all plant once site works are complete.
  • Ensure that the onsite teams are trained to operate such plant.
  • Ensure vehicle/plant checks are carried out.
  • Ensure all GDU’s are calibrated.
  • Arrange for skips, grabs and concrete pumps etc as required.
  • Ensure the calibration and testing of all lifting equipment.
  • Maintain a list of Ferns owned small tools and plant for each team.
  • Arrange for the purchase order, for delivery and or collection of all required materials to include but not limited to, timber, ducting, concrete, steel, ironwork etc.
  • Ensure the yard storage facilities are clean and tidy and that a live record of stock is maintained.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Confined space training – not essential
  • Have a civil’s background, including utility and highways works.
  • Open to either PAYE or self-employed.

Mon-Fri, 45 hours a week, with occasional overtime available. Office based in Kent, but travel across the UK will be required.
