Part Time Inclusion Play Worker

Job Purpose

To provide for the social, emotional, physical and recreational needs of children by establishing a safe, creative and stimulating environment for children's play. To assist the Inclusion Project Manager in the day-to-day running of the Children's Play Centre.

Key Duties

  • To promote children's development, including those with disabilities, through interaction using a wide range of play activities including arts, crafts, games, sports, drama, music, adventure and Centre activities.
  • To plan in conjunction with children and their carers a daily programme of activities on or off-site.
  • To be responsible for the personal care, welfare and supervision of children during on or off-site activities.
  • To be responsible for monitoring and evaluation, daily record keeping for all children that have disabilities, writing and updating end of session reports and ensuring the safe keeping of all such data.
  • To participate in the planning and organization of holidays, community events and day trips with the users and local community in liaison with the Inclusion Project Manager and Centre Manager.
  • To establish and maintain links with local schools, youth projects and other community groups to maintain and develop mutual support to maximize children's play opportunities.
  • To participate in promoting and publicizing the site's activities and assist with fundraising and sponsorships.
  • To participate in organising site repairs and maintenance in conjunction with the Manager.
  • To be responsible for all statutory obligations arising from the use of the Centre including Health & Safety and similar legislation.
  • To ensure that the building and the site are clean and secure and that all equipment and play structures are well maintained and in a safe condition.
  • To participate in any other duties given.

Team Responsibilities

  • To participate in staff meetings and training and actively contribute to the effective operation of the staff team.

Administration

  • To participate in site-based administration duties and on care service sites to operate a registration system.
  • To keep clear and accurate records.
