About Ferndown Construction Services Ferndown Construction Services Limited provides commercial management and quantity surveying services across the construction industry. We support contractors, developers and project teams through all stages of project delivery, with a practical and commercially focused approach. We are seeking a Freelance Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a live construction project in the London area. The initial assignment will be full-time and predominantly site-based. The successful candidate will take responsibility for defined subcontract packages and commercial workstreams, with support and oversight from the FCS Director and the wider project commercial team. Applicants should have sufficient UK contractor-side experience to manage allocated packages reliably, produce accurate commercial information and identify matters requiring support or escalation. Commercial management of allocated packages from procurement through to final account Assessment of subcontractor applications and preparation of payment information Management of variations, change control and associated commercial records Cost reporting, forecasting and contribution to monthly commercial reporting Identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities Attendance at relevant site, subcontractor and project meetings Liaison with operational, design, procurement and commercial colleagues Timely escalation of significant commercial or contractual issues Demonstrable experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a UK main-contractor environment Experience managing subcontract packages and commercial workstreams with a reasonable degree of independence Good knowledge of subcontract procurement, valuations, change control and final accounts A practical understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures Strong numerical, analytical and Microsoft Excel skills A relevant quantity surveying or construction qualification, or equivalent practical experience Full-time freelance assignment Any remote or hybrid working will be subject to the requirements of the client and project Start date and initial contract duration to be agreed Day rate to be agreed based on experience Please apply with a current CV showing relevant contractor-side experience, together with details of: Current or expected day rate Any previous freelance or contracting experience, if applicable Applications are being managed directly by Ferndown Construction Services.
