Directorate: Community and Wellbeing
Location note: Development Office based at Strule Arts Centre, Omagh. May be asked to work flexibly across the Council area.
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including occasional evenings and weekends as required.
Key Purpose
This post will focus on delivering the actions set out in the Fermanagh and Omagh Heritage Plan, support internal coordination through the Council’s cross-cutting Heritage Forum, and contribute to the development and delivery of heritage-led projects, including the Exploring Local Heritage PEACEPLUS project.
Key Responsibilities
- Heritage Plan Delivery: Coordinate and deliver a range of actions from the Heritage Plan Action Plan, report on outcomes and progress.
- Lead the internal Heritage Forum, supporting cross-departmental engagement in the delivery of shared heritage objectives.
- Ensure activities contribute to the overarching goals of access, development, partnership, and protection.
- Work collaboratively with the Fermanagh County Museum team to support aligned heritage delivery and interpretation.
Project Delivery
- Support the development and delivery of the Exploring Local Heritage PEACEPLUS project, engaging with internal teams, communities, and external partners.
- Contribute to other relevant strategic or cross-border heritage initiatives aligned with the Heritage Plan and PEACEPLUS themes.
- Coordinate with museum staff to develop and deliver projects and initiatives as required.
Programming and Engagement
- Develop and deliver a programme of talks, tours, and engagement activities reflecting the district’s diverse heritage.
- Support community-focused heritage projects in partnership with local organisations, schools, and groups.
- Work with the museum team to ensure public programming aligns with shared interpretation goals and audience needs.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build and maintain strong relationships with statutory bodies, heritage networks, community organisations, and neighbouring councils.
- Facilitate partnership working to deliver collaborative, place-based heritage outcomes.
- Contribute to museum and Council-led initiatives that engage communities on heritage themes.
Communications and Reporting
- Produce reports, briefings, and communications materials in support of Heritage Plan delivery and related projects.
- Work with the museum and Corporate Communications team to promote heritage initiatives across digital, print, and media platforms.
Resources and Support
- Coordinate casual staff and volunteers involved in heritage activity.
- Assist with procurement, funding applications, and project budget monitoring.
- Support the museum team and other internal colleagues in strategic planning and delivery of shared heritage priorities.
General
- Comply with all Council policies and procedures, including Employee Code of Conduct and Working Relationship Protocol; ensure staff compliance as applicable.
- Promote equal opportunities and avoid discrimination.
- Implement financial and procurement policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety at Work legislation and promote high standards of safety performance.
- Comply with records management obligations under FoI, Environment Regulations, and Data Protection legislation.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Hold a degree or equivalent qualification and one year of relevant experience, or in the absence of the above qualification, a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Relevant experience should include: project planning and evaluation; event or programme delivery; communications and administration; partnership and stakeholder engagement. Ability to meet targets and deadlines. Competence in IT (including email and Microsoft Office).
Full driving licence and/or access to transport to carry out duties.
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience within a heritage or related setting.
