An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Spada Product & Design team here at Feridax as a Garment Technologist, supporting the continued growth of one of the UK's most established motorcycle apparel brands. Reporting to the Product Development & Design Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, fit, construction, compliance, and technical performance of Spada garments, accessories, and footwear.
Working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will play a key role in bringing world-class products to market and continuously improving the standards and performance of the range.
Key Skills & Responsibilities- Product Construction & Fit Development: Demonstrate extensive knowledge of garment construction, fit development, grading, pattern blocks, fabrications, and minimum make standards across men's and womenswear, with strength in outerwear and technical apparel.
- Sample Evaluation & Technical Reporting: Manage the end-to-end sample process, including garment measurement, fit assessment, technical reporting, and fit session coordination to ensure products meet Spada's quality and performance standards.
- Technical Documentation & Bill of Materials: Create and maintain detailed tech packs and confirm all garment bills of materials, ensuring factories receive accurate specifications to support successful production.
- Supplier & Factory Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with international suppliers, managing day-to-day communication throughout the development process and supporting supplier performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Fabric, Testing & Product Compliance: Lead fabric and product testing activities in conjunction with the Technical Product Advisor, ensuring compliance with CE regulations and all relevant national and international standards. Maintain accurate product documentation and CE manuals.
- Critical Path & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Production Merchandiser, Quality Control, Marketing, and Customer Services to ensure products move efficiently through development and production whilst maintaining clear communication across departments.
- Product Engineering & Commercial Awareness: Support product cost engineering activities and contribute to achieving commercial objectives while maintaining product integrity, quality, and value. Continuously research new fabrics, materials, construction techniques, sizing, and competitor products, producing comparison reports and helping drive innovation across the Spada range.
- Process Improvement & Problem Solving: Manage the Quality teams to investigate issues, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and continuously improve systems and ways of working, including supplier assessment and development plans.
- Organisation, Communication & Stakeholder Management: Possess exceptional organisation and communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly, manage multiple priorities, influence stakeholders, and operate effectively within a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Proven years' experience as a Garment Technologist within an apparel or performance clothing brand.
- Extensive practical experience of garment construction, production methods, and sewing techniques.
- Proven experience working with international suppliers and factories.
- Experience managing fabric and product testing programmes.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a clothing-related discipline.
- Experience within motorcycle PPE, MTB, cycling, sportswear, or technical outerwear.
- Knowledge of CE standards and compliance requirements.
- Adobe Illustrator capability and digital pattern creation.
- Passion for motorcycles, cycling, outdoor pursuits, or action sports.
- Desire to help shape and grow a brand through innovation and continuous improvement.
There will be occasional international travel to visit existing and prospective suppliers and support product development activities.
