This role goes beyond traditional document control administration; under support from the PCM, the successful candidate will own the development of document management processes and system recommendations, support site-wide improvements as part of Ferguson Marine’s transformation journey, and coach the organisation in adopting consistent, robust document management practices. The role will work closely with Engineering and Configuration Management teams to ensure that document baselines accurately reflect the configurable product and support effective information handover (including CDRLs and close-out data for Projects).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of Document Control policies, processes and standards across projects and the site.
  • Develop and manage project-specific Document Management Plans, ensuring alignment with contractual, regulatory and internal requirements and providing guidance and consistency across projects.
  • Assess project and site document management requirements and lead recommendations on document management systems, structures and workflows.
  • Implement and operate document control processes on projects, ensuring timely, accurate control of project documentation.
  • Support audits of document management practices and project data, identifying non-compliance and driving corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure documentation supports effective change control, baseline management and performance reporting.
  • Manage the delivery of contracted project data at project close out and ensure effective handover, including lessons learned - Own legacy data management and archiving arrangements on project completion.

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a Document Control role within a complex engineering, manufacturing or project-based environment.
  • Strong understanding of document management, information governance and lifecycle control within projects.
  • Experience developing or improving document control processes, standards or systems—not just operating them.

Desirable:

  • Experience in shipbuilding, marine, or similarly environments.
  • Familiarity with Configuration Management principles and working alongside engineering/configuration functions.
