We are a growing, specialist architecture and landscape practice with a strong focus on transport and infrastructure design. From urban transit hubs to complex rail environments, we work at the forefront of projects that shape how people move through and experience their cities. Based in London, with a small new office in Liverpool, our multidisciplinary team delivers projects across the UK, combining design excellence with technical precision and a deep understanding of operational environments.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Rail Architect to join our expanding team. You will play a key role in leading and delivering major UK rail and station projects from concept through to completion. This is an opportunity to apply your rail design expertise to complex, high-profile projects, collaborating closely with clients such as Network Rail, Transport for London (TfL), and London Underground (LUL), as well as contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders. An appetite to transfer your skills into Power & Energy, Water and Highways project environments would be beneficial.

You’ll be responsible for design leadership, project delivery, technical quality, and team coordination on station and infrastructure projects of national significance. Some regular travel within the UK will be necessary. We offer strong career progression opportunities to become involved in shaping this growing practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural design and delivery of major UK rail and station projects through all RIBA / ES stages.
  • Manage project teams and coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, including structural, M&E, and landscape teams.
  • Liaise directly with clients and stakeholders (Network Rail, LUL, local authorities, and contractors) to ensure design integrity and compliance.
  • Oversee technical documentation, BIM coordination, and quality assurance processes.
  • Contribute to practice-wide design leadership and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Support business development, bid writing, and client presentations.

About You

  • Qualified architect with ARB registration (or equivalent) with minimum 10 years UK transport project experience.
  • Proven experience in rail and transport architecture, including delivery to completion of major UK rail station projects.
  • In-depth understanding of Network Rail and LUL design, technical standards, and approvals processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client coordination skills.
  • Excellent technical and design capability, with an appreciation for complex transport environments.
  • Proficiency in Bentley OpenBuildings/BIM within a collaborative design environment.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and a passion for infrastructure and public realm design.

What We Offer

  • A collaborative and supportive studio environment within a growing specialist practice.
  • The chance to contribute to nationally significant transport projects.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, leadership, and career progression.
  • Competitive salary and benefits, including flexible working arrangements.
