Fereday Pollard & Partners is looking for an Associate Architect, Urban Designer or Landscape Architect to join our London Southwark studio to manage our delivery of design services to support the consents and delivery of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs). This is a senior role suited to a candidate experienced at delivering high quality design solutions and consents within the DCO and/or TWAO regime. Candidates must have exemplary design, presentation and communication skills and be capable of articulating the multifaceted challenges of scale and complexity associated with NSIPs in a clear and engaging way. The successful candidate will have experience of working closely with external, engineering-led multidisciplinary design teams and managing internal architecture and landscape teams. They may be from an architecture, urban design or landscape architecture background.

The Role: Working closely with the Major Projects Director, you will lead a team to support the practice’s work in developing and delivering architecture and landscape design services for NSIPs. Projects may vary widely and location.
Recent FP&P NSIP and TWAO work includes:
- The Thames Tideway Tunnel: DCO and Client/PM Services. (Complete)
- Silvertown DCO: Illustrative Design, Tender Design and Design Principles (Complete)
- Cambridge South Station (Under Construction)
- Lower Thames Crossing DCO and Client/PM Services (Post-contract award)
- Anglian Reservoirs (Fens and Lincolnshire): DCO Development (In Development)
- Bristol Avon Flood Defences (In Development)
This is a full time, 80% office based role.
Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership
- Lead architecture and landscape design teams within a major project environment
- Advocate for and champion the importance of good design within project teams, client bodies, and external stakeholders
- Have a “growth mindset” with the capacity and ability to understand the complex technical requirements, site based constraints and scale of unusual major projects - and then articulate the design opportunities therein
- Support updates to the website and social media channels
- Bids & Business Development
- Maintaining good client relationships and exploring opportunities with them for further work. Keeping records of client interaction on CRM system (Rapport).
- Undertake networking activities (events and individual meetings)
- Participate in work winning pursuits at direction of pursuit leads, creating content for responses as required
- Studio/Practice Management
- Line Management of more Junior Staff
- Contributing/leading on an area of professional Development
- Financial management of jobs and productivity
About You:
- Qualified with Chartered Professional Membership of relevant professional body for Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Urban Design, or a related field
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills with attention to detail
- Exemplary interpersonal communication and compelling presentation skills
- Organised, reliable, and comfortable leading and managing multiple tasks
- Passion for infrastructure, transport, cities, and the public realm
- Urban design expertise and experience of strategic level studies advantageous
- Willing to learn and contribute as part of a collaborative studio
Desirable:
- Experience within the Water and/or Utilities Sector
- Good profile within the infrastructure design sector
