Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Manager based at Markham Vale.

The role is responsible for activities relating to the accurate, efficient and timely processing of products in the Logistic departments, including inbound and outbound transport and logistics, loading bays and yard management through effective leadership, motivation and development of staff. Responsible for a team of Team Leaders, Operatives and Administrators, ensuring the smooth flow of operations and achieving business targets.

We are looking for a self-starter with system knowledge, who has an analytical nature and is process orientated.

Main duties/responsibilities of the role include:

  • Management of haulers/carriers and monitoring performance against service level agreements.
  • Work closely with the Demand Planning, Customer Care, Export and Inventory teams to meet the customer and business needs.
  • Management of the Logistics team, comprising of Team Leaders and their respective teams of operatives and operations administrators, ensuring there is sufficient labour where required.
  • Ordering and monitoring of materials/Consumables – Transport packaging/Pallets.
  • Conduct performance analysis and real time re-forecasting to ensure optimum trailer fill, followed by effective communication with service providers.
  • Ensuring Key Control Procedures are followed for all incoming and outgoing trailer/containers.
  • Planning and routing vehicles efficiently for exception orders that need driving directly to the customers through utilization of company’s pool vehicles.
  • Supervision of all Logistics documentation and ownership of department’s compliance in accordance with the site’s ISO9001 accreditation and site procedures. Ensure accurate records are maintained and any issues communicated appropriately.
  • Continuously review and negotiate the management of transit packaging suppliers to ensure the DC’s transit packaging is fit for purpose and the optimal dimensions for orders and trailer fills.
  • Managing safe movement of vehicles in and out of the warehouse in compliance with the DC’s AEO accreditation (authorized economic operator), including all documentation which must follow the site’s security requirement.
  • Monitor, evaluate and implement a delivery structure to improve customer lead times.
  • Management and control of process for in and out movements of external warehousing capacity, to ensure maximum utilization of Internal Warehouse space.
  • Inventory stock reconciliations with External Warehouses on an annual basis to satisfy external audit requirements.
