Join us as a Warehouse Operative and make an invaluable contribution to our Food Safety & Biosecurity. As a Warehouse Operative, you will be part of a dedicated Dispatch Team, responsible for shipping food‑based Proficiency Testing and Quality Control samples to 3000+ international customers. You will carry out dispatching of orders, receipt and storage of stock. The dispatch department is a five‑person team working in a small warehouse, storing and shipping a variety of food‑based products to over 120 countries worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Print paperwork for outgoing shipments
- Manually prepare and pack orders from picking lists
- Label food samples
- Store and monitor stocks of packaging materials and ice packs
- Perform stock control duties using our bespoke database (training provided)
- Use courier systems to process the day’s shipments
- Liaise with Admin and Tech Support teams to resolve shipping and order issues
- Handle materials with care, ensuring the area is clean and tidy in line with Health & Safety policies
The post involves manual handling, standing for prolonged periods and accessing cold storage environments for which PPE will be provided. There is no shift work; operations commence daily at 7:00 am.
Qualifications
- Ideally experience working in picking/packing, post room, warehousing/production or retail roles
- Good understanding of computers with familiarity in Excel, Word and Email
