We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Waste Development Officer to join our Waste Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about the environment, behaviour change, and delivering high quality public services. This is a development opportunity for someone looking for a career in waste management that offers the chance to grow your skills, gain experience across multiple aspects of waste management, and work closely with a wide range of partners including contractors, district and city councils, community groups, schools and internal teams.
What will you be doing? As a Waste Development Officer, you will help ensure waste services across Cambridgeshire run efficiently by:
- monitoring performance, analysing data, carrying out site visits and resolving issues
- supporting public education and behaviour change activities
- contributing to project and strategy work
- helping to maintain strong partnerships with contractors, district/city council partners and internal teams
- assisting with procurement and compliance
The role involves regular travel to remote sites, schools and community locations across the county, with some evening and weekend work to support community events.
About you: We’re looking for someone who is passionate about the environment, keen to learn, and confident communicating with a wide range of people. You should be comfortable using data and digital tools, organised with strong attention to detail, and able to build positive working relationships. You will be able to travel independently across the county, including to outdoor and operational sites. You’ll need A-Level/HNC/HND education (or equivalent experience) and knowledge of waste or environmental topics. Experience in the waste or environmental sector is helpful but not essential, as development and support will be provided.
