A challenging and unusual opportunity supporting the Design Manager and leading a professional technical delivery team on innovative cross-functional rail projects throughout the UK.
Agility Working: This full-time role is based in the UK, reporting to the Design Manager. The work location will be centered at our Headquarters Offices, with flexibility under our "Agility Framework and Hybrid Work Policy." The policy allows for adaptable work arrangements, utilizing "TEAMS" for virtual meetings. Attendance at the office may be required for essential meetings and reviews. Fenix Rail Systems adopts an agile approach to work location, balancing productivity with delivery deadlines. An Agility Framework will be tailored for each team member, considering a risk assessment. Site meetings will be attended with appropriate health and safety measures. Applicants must live and be authorized to work in the UK.
The person:
- Current Principles Design License category 1.1.550 Verifiers 1.1.160 License (IRSE framework)
- HNC or higher qualification in engineering
- Working toward Chartered Engineer or Engineering Manager
- CRE experience and understanding of Bid/Tender process
- Minimum 10 yearsβ experience
- Excellent English communication skills
- Self-motivated with good collaborative relationships
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Signalling discipline leader in managing design delivery for various projects
- Work with project specialists to meet deadlines and targets
- Participate in project planning, including resource and skills management
- Develop design scope from client documentation, support tenders, and site visits
- Monitor programmes, conduct risk and impact assessments
- Provide feedback from technical reviews to the design team
- Support weekly Design Review meetings, chairing when necessary
- Act as a point of contact for client projects, attending meetings and site visits
- Mentor colleagues to ensure compliance with technical standards
- Report on project performance and progress
- Implement and communicate project requirements to the design team
- Lead project start-up briefings
- Sign off on specifications and oversee design calculations
- Manage your design team, including contractors
- Contribute to electronic document management systems
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills and broad knowledge of signalling standards
- Understand mainline and metro light rail systems and their interfaces
