SEND Specialist Teacher in Great Dunmow

This independent day and boarding School in North Essex has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified and passionate Teacher to join the Support for Learning team. The role will require the successful person to teach across Years 7 to 13 (ages 11 -18).

Our vibrant and busy SfL Department consists of a Head of Department and five teaching colleagues. There is a collegiate culture, with collaborative planning and the sharing of best practice a key feature. Our pupils experience great success at GCSE, with a healthy number going on to study at A Level or International Baccalaureate, and are offered continued support according to need and appropriate to age to enable them to access competitive institutions and opportunities beyond 18. We are dedicated to promoting a culture of high standards and hard work that will foster lifelong learning habits that enable young people to achieve highly.

The successful candidate will deliver personalized, high-impact education to pupils aged 11- 18 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including dyslexia, ASD, SEMH, MLD/SLD, and communication needs. You will support students in achieving academic progress towards GCSEs, A Level, BTEC or IB qualifications as well as offering general support with the skills and approaches that will carry on through into adult life.

Ideally, you will be able to support pupils in at least one science or maths discipline up to sixth form standard, and in at least two subjects offered in the Felsted Sixth Form curriculum.

This role is full time (Monday to Saturday, 44 lessons per fortnight). In addition to being a member of the SfL team, colleagues at Felsted enjoy the opportunity to support pupils in a range of contexts such as in the Sports programme, in CCF or DofE, or in activities such as Model United Nations. Full time colleagues will typically also act as a tutor to a small group of pupils.
