As a School Counsellor, the successful applicant will provide a confidential counselling and advice service to students, impacting their personal growth and wellbeing. It is essential that applicants have prior experience of working with children and young people and are committed to individual student dedication, together with the ability to support and build excellent working relationships with parent(s)/carer(s) and School staff.

Felsted is a leading day and boarding independent school based in a stunning village campus in North Essex. Founded in 1564 by Richard Lord Riche, Felsted today provides an exceptional holistic education to approximately 1100 boys and girls aged four to eighteen. We employ more than 190 teachers and 460 operational staff in a community orientated environment, ensuring our pupils receive the very best in learning and co-curricular activities.

Role details

  • Salary £30,373.30 per annum (inclusive of holiday pay)
  • Permanent | 32 hours per week | Term-time only (34 weeks per year)

Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential counselling and advice to pupils, contributing to their personal growth and wellbeing.
  • Engage with children and young people using talking, creative work and play to give them an opportunity to be heard and express their feelings.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with parents/carers and School staff.
  • Collaborate with pupils, their families and staff in a safe therapeutic setting.

Qualifications

  • Suitably-qualified counselling practitioner who is registered with a recognised professional body (e.g. BACP or UKCP).
  • Experience of working with children and young people.

Contract details

This role is a permanent contract working 32 hours per week across four days during term-time (34 weeks per annum).
