THE OPPORTUNITY & POSITION OVERVIEW
As Waukesha Metal Products looks to grow their market reach, industry presence, and annual sales/revenue, they are searching for a proven Business Development Manager with a proactive and tenacious approach. A Business Development Manager who can help drive the next phase of growth, open new markets, secure new relationships, strengthen customer relationships, and bring a renewed level of enthusiasm and accountability to the commercial organization is the type of self-starting, dynamic candidate that they’re seeking.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and growing new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing customers. This position drives revenue growth by promoting the company's manufacturing capabilities, identifying customer needs, developing strategic sales opportunities, and securing profitable business. The role serves as a key liaison between customers and internal departments to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term business success. Knowledge and experience working in metal fabrication/contract manufacturing/industrial manufacturing, the automotive industry, and/or the defense industry including quality expectations, contract negotiation, etc. is of high interest and alignment for this position.
This is a fully remote position with flexibility on candidate location within the U.S.

Job Summary:
Business Development & Sales
•Develop and execute strategies to generate new business opportunities within targeted industries and market segments.
•Identify, qualify, and pursue prospective customers through networking, referrals, industry events, market research, and other lead generation activities.
•Establish, develop, and maintain strong business relationships with existing and prospective customers.
•Conduct customer visits, facility tours, presentations, and virtual meetings to promote company capabilities and solutions.
•Manage the sales process from initial contact through quotation, negotiation, award, and launch of new business.
•Collaborate with estimating, engineering, quality, production, and customer service teams to develop competitive proposals and quotations.
•Review customer requirements and communicate expectations clearly to internal stakeholders.
•Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and provide regular updates on opportunities, forecasts, and market activity.
Customer Relationship Management
•Act as the primary point of contact for assigned customers.
•Proactively address customer concerns and coordinate timely resolution of issues.
•Maintain regular communication with customers to identify future opportunities and strengthen long-term partnerships.
•Monitor customer satisfaction and develop action plans to improve service and retention.
Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning
•Monitor industry trends, market conditions, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities.
•Analyze market data and customer requirements to identify profitable growth opportunities.
•Participate in strategic planning efforts to support company growth objectives.
•Represent the company at industry trade shows, technical conferences, customer events, and professional associations.
Administrative Responsibilities
•Maintain accurate customer records, activities, opportunities, and forecasts within the company's CRM system.
•Prepare reports, presentations, sales forecasts, and business development updates as required.
•Ensure compliance with all company policies, quality standards, environmental requirements, and safety procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
•Travel as required to customer locations, trade shows, supplier meetings, and industry events.
•Assist with special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by management.
•Perform other duties as required to support company objectives.
Safety and Compliance
•Follow all company safety, health, environmental, and security policies.
•Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
•Support the company's Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
•Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field preferred.
•Minimum of 3-5 years of business development, sales, account management, or related experience preferred.
•Experience in metal fabrication, contract manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, or a related industry strongly preferred.
•Proven success in generating new business and growing customer relationships.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
•Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
•Ability to interpret customer specifications, drawings, and manufacturing requirements.
•Ability to travel by automobile and air transportation as required.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
•Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
•Ability to visit manufacturing areas and customer facilities.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
•Experience using CRM systems preferred.
•Ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and business opportunities.
•Demonstrated professionalism, initiative, and self-motivation.
•Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
