Full-Time On-site

Our client, a fast-growing Financial Services business, is looking for a qualified accountant who loves turning manual finance processes into automated, data-driven ones. As Senior Finance Manager – Technology, you will lead the firm's automation, AI adoption and data analytics agenda, while keeping a hand in core finance delivery.

The role splits roughly 60% transformation projects and 40% business-as-usual (BAU). You will join a small, high-impact finance team with real scope to set the direction for automation across the whole organisation, not just Finance.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders, acting as a trusted business partner who can translate commercial problems into practical, data-led solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Automation, AI and data analytics projects (c.60%)

  • Lead the design and delivery of the finance automation roadmap, identifying high-value opportunities to remove manual work across Finance and the wider business.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of automation and AI projects: scoping, business case, build, testing, rollout and benefits tracking.
  • Use advanced data tools (e.g. Power BI, Alteryx, Python, SQL, Power Automate or RPA platforms) to automate reporting, reconciliations and data flows.
  • Drive practical adoption of AI tools within Finance and partner teams, ensuring safe, controlled and well-governed use.
  • Build self-serve dashboards and analytics that give senior leaders timely, reliable insight into performance.
  • Improve data quality and the finance data model, working with Technology and Data teams on system integration.
  • Act as the internal champion for automation, sharing best practice and upskilling colleagues across the business.
  • Manage project stakeholders, timelines, risks and budgets, and report progress to senior leadership.

Business-as-usual finance (c.40%)

  • Business partner senior stakeholders, with a particular focus on Technology spend and investment.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and month-end reporting for your area, including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Provide commercial and financial analysis to support investment decisions, business cases and vendor negotiations.
  • Track Technology costs, capitalisation and project spend, ensuring accurate accounting treatment.
  • Maintain strong controls and support audit and regulatory requirements expected of a Financial Services business.
  • Contribute to wider finance team priorities as the business scales.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with 2–4 years' post-qualification experience.
  • A proven track record of using advanced data tools to automate finance or business processes, with clear examples of the impact delivered.
  • Experience leading automation, analytics or systems projects from idea through to implementation.
  • Hands-on capability with tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, SQL, Python, Power Query or RPA platforms.
  • Strong business partnering skills and the confidence to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to explain technical and financial concepts clearly to non-specialist audiences.
  • Comfortable balancing project delivery with BAU deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in Financial Services, FinTech or another regulated environment.
  • Exposure to AI or machine learning tools in a finance or operations setting.
  • Experience with cloud ERP or planning systems and finance data architecture.
