Our client is a high-growth financial services business at an exciting stage of scale-up. They are investing heavily in data and automation, using advanced tools and AI agents to modernise how their finance function operates. This is a rare opportunity to join a Group Finance team that is genuinely ahead of the curve on tech adoption, rather than talking about it.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who combines strong technical financial control with excellent stakeholder management skills and who has a genuine appetite for using technology and AI to drive efficiency in finance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the month-end close process, including preparation of group management accounts and consolidated financial statements
- Maintain robust financial controls, ensuring compliance with accounting standards (IFRS/UK GAAP), internal policies and regulatory requirements
- Support statutory reporting and audit processes across the group, liaising with external auditors as required
- Partner with stakeholders across the business, finance and non-finance, to ensure accurate and timely financial information
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual finance processes using data tools, scripting and AI agents
- Support balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting and group-level reporting
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements specific to financial services (e.g. FCA returns, where relevant)
- Present financial performance and control updates clearly to senior stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes, systems and controls
- Manage ad hoc projects and technical accounting matters as the business scales
Candidate Requirements
Technical / Financial
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Essential: prior experience working within a financial services business (e.g. asset management, payments, banking or fintech)
- Strong technical background in financial control, group reporting and consolidation
- Solid knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS/UK GAAP) and audit processes
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills; comfortable working with large, complex datasets
- A genuine technology-first mindset. Candidates should be able to demonstrate curiosity or hands-on experience with automation, not just familiarity
- Experience with data tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI or Tableau is highly advantageous
- Exposure to AI agents or automation platforms is a strong plus
- Comfortable learning new systems quickly in a fast-changing environment
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information for non-finance audiences
- Confident managing multiple senior stakeholder relationships simultaneously
- Collaborative and proactive, comfortable challenging and being challenged
