The Warehouse Associate supports the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama by performing a wide range of manual tasks related to the acquisition, storage, and distribution of food products.
Responsibilities include:
- Pack partners’ orders and assist with receiving and unloading deliveries.
- Inspect and store food products accurately and safely on storage racks and pallets.
- Ensure partners’ food orders are accurate and done in a timely manner.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks (with training/certification).
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the warehouse, office, and surrounding areas.
- Conduct and support regular inventory counts quarterly or as needed.
- Perform daily checks and routine maintenance on equipment (e.g., fluid levels and batteries).
- Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to food safety and food defense protocols.
- Assist with any additional duties as assigned by warehouse management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum one (1) year’s experience working in a warehouse and/or distribution center environment as a general warehouse worker or order selector required.
- Valid Alabama Driver's License.
- Ability to read and perform basic mathematical functions.
Essential Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment, including exposure to temperature extremes.
- Must adhere to safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to read, count, and write accurately for documentation purposes.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting (up to 70 lbs.).
- Ability to operate motor vehicles and heavy equipment, including forklifts and power pallet jacks.
- Must be able to work varied hours and days as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
Special Requirements:
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong commitment to the organization’s mission.
- Willingness to learn and comply with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Team-oriented and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
