Our stations/Hubs in Kingsbury and Lount require a qualified and motivated individual to join the operations maintenance team within the station as a Skilled Technician.

Hours: 40 per week. Shifts: Sunday night 18:00 to 02:30. Monday 14:00 to 20:30. Tues to Thurs - 11:00 to 19:30.

Salary: £21.68 per hour. Premia paid for Twilight shift allowance of £2.33 per hour (19.00pm and 22.00pm), Night shift allowance of £2.82 (22:00pm to 06:00am). Premium not paid if sick.

The role ensures that all plant and equipment on site is repaired and serviced to recognised standards and as identified within the preventative maintenance schedule ensuring the minimum downtime of sortation equipment. The role of an Operations Maintenance Technician is challenging and requires an individual with excellent organising and communication skills as the role involves:

  • Organise team maintenance and required equipment to ensure that operation and maintenance of machinery is completed safely, in the shortest possible time within the time scale demanded by operational necessities.
  • Monitor workflow, be aware of potential problems and take immediate corrective action through delegation, own action or by referral upwards.
  • Effective liaison with Depot and Operations Managers, Section Leaders and Control Room to resolve difficulties and enquiries.
  • Ensure smooth transition of traffic across the machine paying attention to Health and Safety.
  • Timely and accurate completion, on a nightly basis, of all required information recording sheets.
  • Ensure that all operational and maintenance procedures, as detailed in the Group Operations Manual, are adhered to in order to maintain customer service levels to the required standard.
  • Ensure that all equipment is returned to its designated area after use.
  • Ensure the equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient working order and that an adequate system for reporting defective equipment is in use.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organised, hold a City and Guilds Electrical/Mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent and have the following skills:

  • Knowledge of 17th or 18th Edition electrical regulations.
  • Proven electrical/mechanical maintenance background.
  • Ability to read electrical schematic drawings.
  • Understanding of PLC controlled equipment.
  • Flexible approach to shift patterns.
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation.
  • Full driving licence.
