What You Will Be Doing

  • VAT Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor by providing expert guidance on VAT compliance and tax‑efficient transaction structuring. Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams and external tax advisors to ensure accurate interpretation and application of VAT regulations across European markets. Handle day‑to‑day ad‑hoc VAT questions from the business, ensuring timely and practical advice. Ensure all business projects and transactions are compliant and optimized from a VAT perspective.
  • VAT Reporting and E‑Invoicing: Provide VAT advisory support for VAT reporting initiatives, including e‑invoicing projects, ensuring compliance with local and cross‑border VAT rules. Oversee the accuracy and efficiency of VAT data submission across various platforms.
  • Audit and Inquiries Support: Support responses to VAT audits and queries from European tax authorities. Prepare comprehensive documentation and formulate detailed responses to ensure smooth audit processes and compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Tax Control Framework: Contribute to the development and enhancement of the company’s tax control framework for indirect taxes. This includes designing and refining policies, procedures, and ongoing testing to ensure robust compliance and operational efficiency.
  • VAT Awareness and Training: Drive VAT awareness across the organization by providing targeted training, actionable guidance, and practical solutions. Equip business units with the knowledge to understand VAT implications on business processes, fostering a proactive approach to compliance. Keep the tax team informed of any changes in VAT legislation across Europe, ensuring timely updates and adherence to new regulations.
  • Cross‑Functional Communication and Relationship Management: Build strong internal networks within the company by collaborating across departments, aligning on VAT objectives, and influencing cross‑functional teams to achieve compliance. Externally, maintain key relationships with tax authorities, industry associations, and external tax consultants to stay informed of regulatory changes and best practices.

What Do You Bring With You

  • Master’s degree in Tax Law or Fiscal Economics.
  • Minimum of 6 years work experience in VAT advisory, preferably a combination of Big4 and in‑house with a large multinational.
  • Excellent language skills (written/ verbal) including English and another language.
  • Experience in applying abstract concepts to practical situations.
  • Experience with preparing VAT advice independently.
  • Excellent soft skills including communication, flexibility, innovative thinking, exposure on dealing with senior management, analytical skills, judgement and decision making, working independently.
