Position: Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance Technician (Vehicle Maintenance Technician)
Posting details: 40 scheduled hours per week. Rotating shifts Monday to Friday 06:00–14:30 and 14:00–22:30. Salary: Base pay £20.77 per hour, with premia for hours worked between 19:00–22:00 (£2.23 per hour) and 22:00–06:00 (£2.70 per hour).
Responsibilities
- Completion of signed service and inspection records
- Completion of defect reports and associated paperwork to comply with legal requirements
- Prepare vehicles and trailers for annual MOT testing (to a standard to ensure first-time pass)
- Perform ad-hoc vehicle repairs, investigating and rectifying vehicle defects
- Ensure the correct and effective safe use of all tools, plant and ancillary equipment
- Maintain good housekeeping standards and carry out any other duty deemed reasonable by Management
Qualifications
- Fully skilled with applicable licenses / vocational training (e.g., LGV C&E licence – class 1)
- City & Guilds parts 1 & 2 or equivalent in commercial vehicle repairs
- Knowledge of the use and operation of all automotive equipment and testing/troubleshooting equipment
- Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy vehicle components
- Experience with welding and basic DC electrical troubleshooting skills
- Must possess a valid driving licence
- Previous experience within a similar role
