Part-time Vacancy – LSP-S022

School: Backwell C of E Junior School

Hours: 10.5 hours - Part-Time Wednesday 8.30am – 3.45pm and Thursday 8.30am – 12.15pm

Contract: Fixed Term

Start Date: 1st September 2026 – 31st August 2027 (subject to staffing review)

Salary: JG5 pt 12 - 19 fte (£28,598 - £32,061) Pro Rata (£7,128 - £7,991)

Governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate for the post of HLTA to cover PPA supporting children at Backwell Juniors. Backwell C of E Junior school is strongly committed to the community it serves. This post offers an exciting opportunity to join a very supportive team dedicated to ‘making a difference’. We have a clear pedagogy and high expectations of all members of our school community. We seek to ensure that teaching and learning is of the highest quality and enable reflective practice and dialogue. It is a welcoming inclusive school with a strong Christian ethos. We are a 420 place Federation split over 2 sites with beautiful buildings set in lovely green surroundings. Both West Leigh Infant School and Backwell C of E Junior School are part of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership MAT.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with the commitment to build on the current success of the schools. We are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant HLTA qualifications
  • Relevant Infant or Primary experience across a range of year groups.
  • A proven track record as an outstanding and inspirational teaching with a commitment to improving the quality of children’s learning.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of using data to raise standards.
  • Evidence of excellent provision for all pupils and who has a proven track record of achieving high standards of pupil progress.
  • A proven ability to work in partnership with the teachers.
  • Experience of successful participation to a team approach.
  • Experience in and understanding of safeguarding procedures.
  • A creative vision for education and the passion and skills to deliver it.
  • The ability to maintain effective relationships between pupils, parents, staff and the community.
