FEATURE STORY NEWS, an independent international broadcast news agency, is seeking a full-time Financial Controller to helm the company's financial operations. The successful candidate will have at least 10 years' experience running the global financial operations of a fast-paced company, ideally with experience in the broadcasting sector. We're looking for someone who can oversee the financial aspects of an enterprise that operates from multiple international news production locations, with full-time, salaried staff.
The Financial Controller will ideally have a solid understanding of how a global media business operates, with full appreciation for the needs of news operations to react rapidly to fast-breaking international developments. The successful candidate will have an understanding of the rapidly-changing global media landscape, and a proven ability to help an innovative organization develop its business strategies amid tremendous industry churn.
We're seeking a candidate articulate in all aspects of financial planning, data collection and entry, payroll, P/L and A/R reporting. The Financial Controller will serve as a key member of FSN's management team overseeing cash flow, financial planning and taxation issues. The Financial Controller will play a key role in financial negotiations with FSN's clients and vendors, ensuring reliable inward-and-outward capital flows.
The Financial Controller will work as a critical member of a small executive management team, and will report directly to the executive team. This is a full-time, in-office position located in London. The Financial Controller will manage a small team of finance professionals, managing their workflows and making appropriate future recommendations. We're looking for someone with demonstrable experience serving as a team player, with creative ideas to assist a growing company flourish financially. International travel will be required of the successful candidate on an occasional basis.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage finance team
- Lead the month-end close across AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Banking and the Nominal ledger / trial balance
- Work with the exec team and dept heads to determine KPIs and then report against them
- Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts including narrative
- Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed on time highlighting any risks / unexpected items
- Oversee monthly payroll processes
- Liaise with tax advisors and accountants worldwide
- Ensure all worldwide corporate filings are submitted on time
- Produce ad hoc reporting as requested by exec mgt team, Operations, Sales, and other parts of the business
- Provide cover across AP and AR as required
- Set up controls and approval levels across the company in conjunction with the exec team
- Liaise with all banks ensuring best solutions for the company are in place
- Primary approval of all payments
