Canterbury Christ Church University invites applications for the role of Dean of Education and Student Success. Reporting directly to the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education, Student Growth and Global Engagement, the Dean of Education and Student Success is an influential senior leader who will shape and drive the education vision. Through compassionate leadership of the Education and Student Success (ESS) Directorate and collaboration across the student lifecycle, the Dean will ensure an outstanding student experience and strong graduate outcomes.
This newly expanded role is pivotal within the recent strategic Transformational Change Programme (TCP) that has redefined the University’s structure and ways of working. Reflecting the broader scope of the ESS Directorate, the Dean will provide strategic direction and work in close partnership with three Associate Deans, each responsible for a key area of delivery: Digital Learning and Learning Design; Education and Curriculum Development; and Student Success. Together with academic schools and wider stakeholders, this senior leadership team will champion innovation in curriculum design, harness technology to enhance learning and embed holistic student support. Their collaborative efforts will ensure our vision for an outstanding, inclusive student experience is fully realised and consistently embedded across all aspects of our provision.
The Dean will lead the University’s TEF and APP submissions, oversee the Academic Framework and drive learning and teaching policy development, ensuring close collaboration with Academic Deans and professional service leads. They will advance the Learning and Teaching strategy already in motion, guiding its implementation as the Academic Framework is rolled out across all courses and evolves to incorporate AI, emerging technologies and innovative pedagogies.
We are seeking a compassionate, collaborative leader who shares our commitment to transforming lives through authentic education. Someone who embraces the responsible and ethical use of AI and emerging technologies, brings systems thinking and strategic clarity and knows how to focus effort and resources where they will make the greatest impact. A leader who can inspire their team, partners and the wider community to deliver consistently outstanding student outcomes.
At Canterbury Christ Church University, we want you to feel safe bringing the real you to work and need your help to make sure others feel the same. Our students deserve diverse and wonderful role models; and you deserve a respectful, inclusive and supportive work environment. We therefore welcome people across age, race, ethnicity, culture, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, neurodiversity and disability status who will proactively support our aim to be a happy, inclusive and empowering university that cares deeply for our students, our staff, our communities and our global partners.
