We are looking for a Lead Teacher of Geography to lead the development of high-quality subject teaching across the department by sharing effective pedagogical practices, supporting professional growth through coaching and collaboration, and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement. The role will work closely with the Head of Department and SLT link to enhance teaching standards, build staff capacity, and embed self‑evaluation practices that drive excellence in learning and teaching.

Key Responsibilities

  • To model the highest level of teaching and learning in your own classroom and then support and lead the improvement of others.
  • Accelerate improvement and raise standards in the subject area.
  • Support in planning and teaching high quality lessons, improving outcomes, whilst ensuring students engage in extra‑curricular activities.
  • Analyse performance data to ensure that students are appropriately supported to achieve their best possible outcomes.

Pay range: MPS/UPS with TLR2A – £2833, full time teaching hours, permanent role

Qualifications and Skills

  • 5 GCSEs including Maths & English
  • Degree in related subject specialism
  • Qualified teacher status or recognised equivalent
  • Excellent understanding of the assessment processes at KS3 and KS4 and how to use these to support planning and raise student achievement.
  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to inspire and challenge colleagues, peers and teams
