About the Team
Pearson\’s UK & Ireland Higher Education Sales Team partners with the university community to enhance teaching and learning through high-quality products and services. Our mission is to enrich the experience of educators and students by combining pedagogical expertise with innovative educational technology.
The Educational Technology Specialist plays a central role in this mission, delivering outstanding customer service and training to support the adoption of platforms, eTextbooks, and simulations. The goal: increase relevance, value, and impact of Pearson\’s digital solutions across courses, departments, and faculties in the UK & Ireland.
Location
Field-based, with frequent travel across Scotland, the North of England, or Ireland. Candidates must be based within this region. The role requires regular presence on university campuses (typically 1‑2 days per week).
About the Role
The Educational Technology Specialist works closely with field sales colleagues to identify, pursue, and grow digital opportunities. This includes driving new courseware adoption, expanding existing usage, and accelerating highly qualified leads to closure during the selling season.
Balancing customer support with business development, the Specialist also acts as a trusted coach and partner to sales colleagues—helping assess opportunities, generate leads, and secure digital‑focused wins.
Success in this role requires strong technical and problem‑solving skills, a passion for education, and a commitment to building lasting relationships that create exceptional customer experiences.
This role provides lecturers with the support needed to:
- Understand how Pearson digital courseware complements teaching strategies.
- Create usage plans and define success goals.
- Set up and implement courseware in line with teaching needs.
- Confidently use key functionality to deliver successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Educator Support & Training
- Consult with lecturers to scope and define training requirements aligned to course goals and learner outcomes.
- Deliver tailored training and service plans for each institution.
- Provide ongoing technical support throughout the academic year, working with support teams to ensure seamless delivery.
- Monitor customer experience through analytics, producing usage reports to help teaching teams make data‑informed decisions.
New Business Acquisition
- Protect and grow regional business, contributing to strategies for retention, upsell, and expansion.
- Support sales colleagues with strategic planning, on‑campus activities, and adoption‑driving initiatives.
- Deliver presentations to lecturers, management, and students as needed.
- Maintain expert knowledge of Pearson\’s full digital courseware and service portfolio.
- Record all customer interactions in Salesforce, ensuring timely communication with the sales team.
Community Building & Market Insight
- Support pilots and early adopter programmes across the region.
- Encourage educators to provide testimonials, case studies, and evidence of impact in collaboration with Marketing and Product teams.
- Build presence within teaching and learning networks and communities.
- Provide market feedback during Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success events.
What We\’re Looking For
We\’re seeking candidates with proven experience in Higher Education—whether in teaching, technical roles, or sales—who bring both a passion for educational technology and an understanding of HE pedagogy, assessment, and the opportunities and challenges of AI in education.
