Configuration Analyst

About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Configuration Analyst to work for our client within the Financial Services sector.

This is initially a 6-12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Edinburgh.

Our client is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Configuration Analyst to support and maintain our Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and Configuration Management processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in Service Now, IT Service Management (ITSM), Asset Management, or Configuration Management who enjoys working with data, improving processes, and helping ensure technology information remains accurate and trusted across the organisation.

Working closely with teams across Technology Services, you will play a key role in maintaining the quality and integrity of Configuration Item (CI) data, supporting Service Now CMDB administration, service mapping activities, governance processes, and continual service improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and administering Configuration Items (CIs) and CI relationships within the Service Now CMDB.
  • Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of configuration data.
  • Performing regular audits, reconciliations, and data quality reviews.
  • Identifying and resolving duplicate, stale, or inaccurate CI records.
  • Supporting Service Now Discovery and Service Mapping activities.
  • Assisting with CMDB integrations and data ingestion processes.
  • Supporting adoption of the Common Service Data Model (CSDM).
  • Producing CMDB reporting, dashboards, and data quality metrics.
  • Supporting Change, Incident, Problem, Asset, Risk, Security, and Service Management teams with accurate configuration data.
  • Analysing the impact of changes on technology services and infrastructure.
  • Investigating and resolving configuration data discrepancies.
  • Contributing to process improvements and CMDB maturity initiatives.
  • Supporting internal and external audit requirements relating to Configuration Management.
  • Maintaining documentation, procedures, and working instructions.

About You

  • Experience working within an IT Service Management (ITSM) environment.
  • Experience administering or supporting a CMDB, ideally within Service Now.

Knowledge of the Common Service Data Model (CSDM).

  • Understanding of Configuration Management principles and ITIL best practices.
  • Knowledge of Configuration Items (CIs), CI relationships, and service dependencies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
  • Experience producing reports and analysing data trends.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams.
