About The Role
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Business Analyst to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham or Newcastle.
Our client is seeking an experienced Business Analyst who will play a key part in driving digital transformation initiatives across multidisciplinary teams within the public sector. This role is vital in understanding business needs, defining requirements and producing strategically aligned solutions based on the organisation’s strategic goals and Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed analysis of business problems, user journeys, and system dependencies
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder interviews to gather and prioritise requirements while developing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships
- Ensure requirements for end-to-end process are clear and in line with strategic objectives
- Develop and maintain as-is and to-be process maps to assist service transformation
- Lead the definition and management of business and user requirements
- Support the development of business cases and contribute to service assessments in line with GDS standards
- Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure solutions meet user needs, using tools such as Confluence to track progress and document requirements
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement
About You
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst in public sector projects
- Strong understanding of GDS service standards, including Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live phases
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and tools like Jira, Confluence
- Proficiency in business process modelling
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
