The Role

As Product Owner for Marketing Compliance and Consent, you will own the technical product strategy and delivery roadmap for the systems and capabilities that govern how we communicate with our customers — ensuring every marketing interaction is compliant, consented, and built on a foundation of trust. You will sit at the intersection of regulatory obligations, marketing ambition, and technical delivery — translating complex compliance requirements into clear, actionable product outcomes, and working closely with other engineering teams, legal, data, and marketing teams to deliver solutions at pace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the technical product vision and roadmap for marketing compliance and consent management capabilities.
  • Translate regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR, PECR, market‑specific gambling marketing regulations) into well‑defined, prioritised product features and user stories.
  • Define and maintain a clear backlog that balances compliance obligations, business goals, and customer experience.
  • Make prioritisation decisions with confidence, clearly articulating trade‑offs to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that you adhere to the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) obligations for your role.
  • Identify and raise any non‑compliance incidents promptly to your line manager.
  • Challenge processes, policies and projects that will negatively impact compliance within the Group.
  • Complete all mandatory compliance training assigned to you.
  • Reach out to the Compliance Teams if unsure of any of your compliance obligations or the requirements are unclear.

Delivery & Execution

  • Work in close partnership with Technical Engineering Manager (TEM) to deliver against the roadmap — writing clear acceptance criteria, refining stories, and aligning cross‑team dependencies.
  • Ensure regulatory and compliance deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Define and monitor product KPIs and success metrics, using data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage dependencies across functional teams, including Legal, CRM, and Marketing Operations.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact on marketing consent product matters.
  • Communicate roadmap status, risks, and decisions clearly to stakeholders, including Product Engineering Lead (PEL).
  • Build strong relationships with Marketing and CRM teams to ensure compliance capabilities enable, rather than hinder, commercial activity.
  • Curiosity and confidence to question requirements, ensuring alignment to the heart of the request.

Regulatory & Domain Expertise

  • Maintain a current and deep understanding of relevant regulations (GDPR/PECR and gambling‑specific marketing rules) and their product implications.
  • Proactively monitor upcoming regulatory changes and assess impact on product roadmap.
  • Partner with Legal and DPO to ensure consent flows, suppression logic, and audit trails meet all regulatory obligations.
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or demonstrable experience that reflects similar responsibilities, ideally within a regulated industry (gambling, financial services, fintech, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations, particularly GDPR and PECR, and their practical application in digital marketing and consent management.
  • Experience working with consent management platforms (CMPs), preference centres, or marketing suppression systems.
  • Ability to break down complex regulatory requirements into clear, deliverable product outcomes.
  • Confident communicator — able to influence technical teams and senior business stakeholders equally.
  • Highly organised with a structured approach to backlog management and prioritisation.
  • Experience utilising Jira and Confluence to log, track and report progress.
  • Knowledge of agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban).

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and evaluate each candidate based on merit, regardless of personal characteristics such as age, gender, origin, religion, sexual orientation, neurodiversity or disability.
