Junior Quantitative Analyst – Quant Team

The Quant Team is focused on developing quantitative sport models, taking models from prototype to production. The team is an important component of the vision for the future evolution of FDJ Sportsbook Platform. The Quant Team is split into three workstreams: Quant Research, Quant Engineering and Quant Model Development. We are looking to recruit a talented Junior Quantitative Analyst to join the Research team to contribute to our sports modelling efforts. Your work will help to deliver functionality, tools and models to support our broader objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop and assess probabilistic pricing models across multiple sports.
  • Analyse and prepare data and assist with data quality for use in models and model evaluation tools.
  • Write code that follows best practices and facilitates collaboration and re-usability by other team members.
  • Support the delivery of Quant Team projects by working with senior Quant Team members and broader stakeholders.
  • Promote work and contributions for use within the team and the wider business, through conversations, reports and presentations.

Expected Attributes

  • Commercial and/or academic experience in a similar role.
  • Interest in applying modelling techniques to sporting events.
  • Basic to intermediate programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Able to explain complex topics to non-specialists in an accessible manner.
  • A problem‑solving growth mindset with the ability to pick up new tools and concepts quickly.
  • Able to interact in a constructive manner with colleagues in the Quant team.
  • Ability to deal with uncertainty, with the flexibility to learn by iteration.
  • Ability to make well‑informed decisions based on data and to prioritise effectively.
  • Undergraduate, Masters or PhD degree in a STEM subject.
  • Experience manipulating, exploring and analysing data sets using libraries such as pandas and using numerical and scientific libraries such as Numpy and Scipy.
  • Experience with widely used probabilistic programming and machine learning libraries such as Stan, PyMC3, Scikit‑Learn, Keras, Tensorflow or PyTorch.
  • Exposure to cloud computing, ideally AWS.
  • An interest in sports betting.
