Primarily focussed on event delivery, the group includes ‘not for profit’ entities and is entering a phase of diversification and development, building on its excellent reputation and core outputs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a finance leader to contribute to the success of a charity that has a significant influence on the lives and opportunities for young people. Reporting directly to, and working closely with, the CEO, the successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and leader, keen to assume responsibility and able to influence across all business areas and activities, and formulating and implementing commercial strategies via rigorous financial modelling.
My client is looking for a passionate and committed individual who shares the Group’s commitment to staging unique public events that deliver to the Charity’s aims and objectives. Responsibilities will include:
- Development of the Group’s financial strategy, targets and budgets.
- Financial updates and forecasting to inform cashflow and grant-giving decisions; scenario-planning to inform contingency and reserves management; numerical and visual presentations to inform a combination of operational and strategic considerations across the Group.
- Inform and guide the financial considerations to support a strategic broadening of a high-profile and ambitious UK charity.
- Preparation & presentation of annual accounts.
- Responsible for all Company Secretarial requirements.
- Ensuring regulatory, statutory and GDPR compliance.
- Update and implement financial policies and procedures.
- Conduct analysis of financial risks and benefits on business initiatives.
- Leading a mixed discipline team, with responsibility for financial management and controls within the Group and other key-business support functions.
- Responsible for recruiting additional finance staff as the organisation grows.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of the group’s commercial activities.
About you:
- A suitably qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountant with at least 5 years post qualified experience in the charity and commercial sectors, ideally in a sales/marketing environment.
- Strong knowledge of project-based accounting software.
- Impeccable mathematics and analytical skills.
- Excellent financial management and understanding of the legal and compliance obligations for the charity sector.
- Experience of investments in support of Corporate Social Responsibilities and Environmental and Sustainability initiatives.
- An ability to present information in forms suitable for a diverse audience with varying financial expertise.
- A team player, someone who encourages a collaborative and supportive environment.
- An ability to build relationships, credibility and trust with senior stakeholders including charity trustees and non-executive directors.
- A proactive, collaborative and agile mindset appropriate for a dynamic and innovative charitable group.
