Build the financial strategy behind a high-growth, purpose-led design and procurement business. This FD role isn't about reporting on growth - it's helping create it. We’re partnering with an ambitious, founder-led business operating across design, interiors and specialist procurement. Already successful in its market, the business has a clear ambition to grow from c.£15m to £50m over the next five years. The incoming Finance Director will play a central role in making this happen.

Why this business?

  • Growth with purpose: This is a business with genuine commercial momentum, but its ambitions don't come at the expense of its values. It is B Corp certified, with sustainability and responsible sourcing embedded into the business model and proposition. Environmental responsibility is a genuine competitive differentiator and an important part of where the company is heading, and is winning them significant market share.
  • A genuinely interesting industry: This isn't a conventional corporate environment. The business sits within the design and interiors sector, working across an increasingly sophisticated market and at the intersection of creativity, procurement and sustainability.
  • Entrepreneurial leadership: You'll work directly with the founders and leadership team in a business where your judgement will be heard. This is a role for someone who wants to challenge, influence and shape decisions, rather than simply provide financial information after the decisions have been made.
  • A great place to work: The business has a bright, collaborative and entrepreneurial culture, right in the heart of London's design community. It's a setting that impresses, that reflects the character of the business: creative, ambitious and forward-thinking.

The role: You’ll take ownership of the financial strategy and become a key member of the leadership team. Your remit will include:

  • Supporting and shaping the £15m → £50m growth strategy
  • Commercial planning and decision-making
  • Financial planning, forecasting and performance
  • Cash flow and working capital
  • Profitability and commercial insight
  • Building scalable financial infrastructure, controls and reporting
  • Providing strategic challenge to the founders and leadership team

This is a highly visible, hands-on strategic role with genuine scope to shape how the business scales.

Who we’re looking for: We're looking for a chartered accountant with c.5–7 years PQE who has demonstrable experience operating in and supporting the significant growth of an SME. You will need:

  • Proven experience of scaling or supporting a growing SME
  • Strong commercial and strategic thinking
  • The confidence and gravitas to influence founders
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder skills
  • The ability to move between strategic thinking and detail
  • A stable, credible career history
  • An entrepreneurial, pragmatic approach

Experience in design, interiors, sustainability, environmental or another purpose-led sector would be beneficial but not essential. An interest in sustainability and environmental impact is highly desirable to culturally and strategically align with the business. This is not a role for a purely technical accountant or someone looking for a passive FD position. We're looking for someone with a track record, bright, sharp, commercially minded and influential who wants to and can make a tangible difference.

The opportunity:

  • £15m → £50m ambition.
  • B Corp certified.
  • Sustainability at the heart of the proposition.
  • A genuinely interesting, design-led industry.
  • Direct access to ambitious founders.
  • Central London office, 1 day per week from home.
  • A genuine seat at the leadership table.
