Are you a senior compliance or regulatory professional looking for purposeful, intellectually stimulating work alongside your existing commitments? We have a unique fractional opportunity that might be exactly what you're looking for.

We're a research and innovation foundation with a mission to make financial guidance genuinely accessible to people who need it most. We sit at the intersection of regulation, technology, and social impact β€” and we're building something that matters. As our work expands into digital propositions and new guidance models, we need an experienced compliance voice to help us move forward responsibly, pragmatically, and with confidence.

This is a fractional Compliance Advisor position β€” one day per week β€” working directly with our leadership team. You'll act as a trusted sounding board and subject matter expert, helping us understand where we sit within the FCA regulatory perimeter, how to navigate the advice/guidance boundary, and how to build compliant digital customer journeys that actually serve people well.

This isn't a box-ticking role. We're not looking for someone to produce lengthy compliance frameworks that sit on a shelf. We need someone who can think on their feet, communicate complex regulatory concepts clearly to a non-compliance audience, and help us make smart, well-informed decisions at pace.

You'll be joining a small, mission-driven team that values curiosity, straight-talking, and genuine collaboration. If you've ever wanted to apply your regulatory expertise in a setting where it directly shapes innovation and social good β€” this is that opportunity.

Key Areas of Focus
  • Advising on the FCA regulatory perimeter and conduct of business requirements as they apply to our proposition
  • Guiding our interpretation of the advice vs. guidance boundary β€” particularly in digital and automated contexts
  • Providing expertise on investments and pensions regulation (COBS) as we develop our offering
  • Supporting our thinking on Targeted Support and the evolving FCA landscape around consumer guidance
  • Reviewing and sense-checking customer journeys, communications, and product concepts from a compliance perspective
  • Flagging emerging regulatory risks and helping us stay ahead of relevant FCA consultations and policy developments
  • Acting as a critical friend to our leadership β€” challenging assumptions and offering clear, actionable guidance
What We're Looking For

You'll likely come from one of the following backgrounds β€” though we're open to the right person, whatever their route:

  • Ex-FCA or regulatory policy specialist, ideally with knowledge of Targeted Support and the Consumer Duty agenda
  • Senior Compliance professional from a wealth management, investment, or pensions firm
  • Regulatory lawyer with a strong focus on FSMA, the RAO, and FCA conduct rules

Beyond your technical credentials, we're particularly interested in people who:

  • Are comfortable operating in an agile, fast-moving environment without heavy infrastructure around them
  • Have experience advising early-stage or digital-first financial services businesses
  • Can translate regulatory complexity into plain language and practical guidance
  • Are genuinely motivated by the idea of improving access to financial guidance for underserved communities
  • Have exposure to robo-advice, digital guidance tools, or automated customer journeys β€” even if not exclusively
What We Offer
  • A genuinely interesting compliance challenge at the frontier of fintech, regulation, and social impact
  • Direct access to and influence over leadership decisions β€” your advice will be heard and acted upon
  • Flexibility β€” one day per week, remote-friendly, structured around your existing commitments
  • A collaborative, intellectually curious team that respects your expertise
  • The satisfaction of contributing to work that makes a real difference to real people

Commitment: 1 day per week
Day Rate: Β£500
Location: Remote / Flexible
Engagement: Fractional Consultant basis

If this resonates with you β€” or if you know someone in your network who would be a great fit β€” we'd love to hear from you. Please reach out directly, drop a message in the comments, or send across a profile/CV to [insert contact details]. Referrals are very warmly welcomed.
