To carry out high-quality polishing finishing work on repaired and refinished vehicles, together with basic paint preparation to support the bodyshop team. The role is focused primarily on achieving an excellent final finish and ensuring vehicles are presented to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Polishing & Finishing
- Machine polish vehicle panels to achieve a high-quality finish.
- Remove sanding marks, swirl marks, light scratches, haze and other paint imperfections.
- Flat and polish painted panels where required.
- Inspect completed work and rectify any imperfections.
- Use polishing machines, compounds, pads and finishing products correctly.
Basic Paint Preparation
- Carry out basic preparation of panels prior to painting.
- Sand and key surfaces as required.
- Carry out minor filling and preparation work where appropriate.
- Mask vehicles and panels ready for the paint process.
- Ensure surfaces are clean, smooth and free from contaminants.
- Assist with general preparation duties to support the paint technician and bodyshop team.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a vehicle polisher, detailer or within a bodyshop environment.
- Good experience with machine polishing and paint correction.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle paint preparation and refinishing processes.
- Good understanding of polishing compounds, pads and techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for quality.
- Ability to work efficiently to agreed repair times and quality standards.
