About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join our Mechanical & Building Services team based in Oxford. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to take ownership of the commercial management of M&E projects from pre-construction through to final account. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation, submission, and agreement of interim valuations and applications for payment
  • Management and negotiation of variations
  • Preparation and submission of Extension of Time (EOT) claims
  • Management and agreement of final accounts
  • Full commercial administration of subcontractor accounts, including procurement, payments, and final account agreement
  • Cost forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting
  • Attending and contributing to client and project meetings
  • Direct liaison with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders
  • Ensuring contractual compliance across all project activities

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within Mechanical & Building Services
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., JCT/NEC)
  • Experience managing variations, applications, EOT claims, and final accounts
  • Confident in managing subcontractor packages
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (HNC/HND/Degree)
