About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join our Mechanical & Building Services team based in Oxford. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to take ownership of the commercial management of M&E projects from pre-construction through to final account. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation, submission, and agreement of interim valuations and applications for payment
- Management and negotiation of variations
- Preparation and submission of Extension of Time (EOT) claims
- Management and agreement of final accounts
- Full commercial administration of subcontractor accounts, including procurement, payments, and final account agreement
- Cost forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting
- Attending and contributing to client and project meetings
- Direct liaison with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders
- Ensuring contractual compliance across all project activities
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within Mechanical & Building Services
- Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., JCT/NEC)
- Experience managing variations, applications, EOT claims, and final accounts
- Confident in managing subcontractor packages
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (HNC/HND/Degree)
