About the Role
Enhanced Access services provide appointments to Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre patients in the evenings and weekends when many GP practices are closed. We operate from five different locations across the Fylde and Wyre area. Patients can book an appointment through their GP practice and will have access to a variety of health care professionals including GPs, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Swabs (wounds)
- Removal of sutures and staples
- Venepuncture
- Wound care
- Ear syringing
- Routine chronic disease pre‑checks
- Administer any investigatory procedures requested by the GP
- Collect, store and dispatch pathological specimens, including swabs and bloods
- Document and obtain consent for all treatments, ensuring patient participation in decision making
- Maintain accurate records in line with professional guidance
- Use clinical templates, read codes and protocols correctly
- Dispose of clinical waste safely
- Inform the Clinical Lead of any untoward incidents (falls, verbal aggression, criminal damage, safeguarding concerns)
- Contribute to infection control measures by adhering to policies and procedures
- Assist with cleaning and stocking of clinical areas
Administrative & Housekeeping Responsibilities
- Assist with administration tasks within the locations
- Keep the clinical areas clean and stocked
- Attend staff meetings as required and support the Clinical Manager in reviewing work requirements
- Participate in relevant in‑service training and contribute to the identification of own training needs
