Welcome to FCMS! We are looking for a Health Care Assistant to join our busy team at Morecambe Urgent Treatment Centre.

The service operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year, from 08:00 to 20:00. Flexibility is essential for offering availability to cover sickness and annual leave. Pay is Β£13.26 per hour, with enhancements for Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Undertaking a range of clinical duties including venepuncture, ECGs, wound care, observations, and applying plaster of paris to patients with fractures.
  • Providing personal care to patients.
  • Contributing to administrative, reception/floorwalker, and housekeeping duties within the service location.

The post holder must have a minimum NVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care and be willing to be upskilled to be an Urgent Care Health Care Assistant or alternatively hold a Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care. A period of shadowing/training will be provided.

Education and In Service Training:

  • Be fully conversant in all the clinical computer systems used within Morecambe Urgent Treatment Centre.
  • Attend relevant study/induction days, seminars, courses etc. for individual development and for the benefit of the service.
  • Keep up to date with compliance and mandatory training.

Person Specification:

  • Essential: Enthusiastic and committed about the role, flexible, willing to work unsocial hours across 7 days, approachable, positive, team player, ability to prioritise work.
  • Experience: Essential health care work experience, experience of dealing with the general public.
  • Desirable: Experience of recording ECGs, wound care, working in a GP practice setting/urgent care environment, venepuncture, applying plaster of paris.
  • Knowledge & Skills: Essential ability to work as a team member, organisation and prioritising skills, good communication skills, basic IT skills.
  • Qualifications: Good standard of general education, NVQ Level 2 Health Care or working towards Level 3 is desirable.
