The successful candidate must hold DV+ clearance or be willing to undertake such clearance. Working at the cutting edge of technology, the teams at UK NACE guard against technical espionage, provide policy advice to the government, investigate threats, and more all to protect our nation's secrets.
In this important new role you'll:
- Analyse operational technical surveillance countermeasures
- Assist with strategic technical threat assessments
- Support research and development activities
- Produce specific reports using a range of intelligence and information sources
- Lead the delivery of technical security incidents
- Respond to requests for threat advice and guidance
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver detailed consulting projects
- Ensure that all analysis work is expertly reviewed and conforms to Professional Head of Intelligence Assessment Common Analytical Standards
Your day-to-day work will include managing relationships with third-party suppliers of data, tools and specialist skills, acting as a trusted source of technical threat expertise, and deciding how analysis and outputs should be tailored and classified for different audiences.
We expect you to:
- Build relationships with external providers of intelligence and information
- Contribute expert advice to working groups and professional bodies
- Take ownership of the production of technical threat assessments
- Identify, evaluate and develop new sources of data, tools and techniques
- Identify gaps in current analytical methods
- Share tradecraft with less experienced colleagues
- Provide expert peer review and challenge on the work of other analysts
To be a success in this significant senior role you should have:
- Working knowledge of the scientific and engineering principles that underpin technical security countermeasures
- Capable of reading large amounts of complex material, including technical papers, reports and policies
- Sound understanding of risk and mitigation as it applies to a technical threat environment
- Proven analytical capabilities in either qualitative or quantitative data analysis
- Willingness to develop competence across these to support all-source assessment
Qualifications:
- Educated to a minimum of Level 3 in a technology-related discipline, which could be physics, engineering, computer science or a related field
You should be flexible and adaptable, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to present complex analysis to a range of audiences. Capable of networking and building professional relationships with stakeholders at various levels of seniority.
