Overview
In this role you will lead the development, implementation and maintenance of Technical Security skills for UK NACE, a key cross-government authority.
You’ll shape skills frameworks, provide strategic guidance and drive workforce capability to counter evolving threats.
You will collaborate with threats teams and operational units to keep standards practical and effective, and you’ll promote UK NACE security qualifications across government and industry.
You’ll build relationships with academia and industry, champion continuous professional development, and represent UK NACE at governance forums.

Responsibilities
- Lead development, implementation and maintenance of Technical Security skills for UK NACE
- Define and maintain professional standards, competency frameworks and workforce capability programmes
- Translate standards into practical guidance and career development opportunities
- Collaborate with universities, academic institutions and industry to promote technical security qualifications
- Shape future direction of the technical security specialisation and coordinate with cross-government and international partners
- Represent UK NACE with HM Government and international partners at governance boards and professional forums
- Engage with senior stakeholders to influence outcomes in complex security environments
- Provide strategic leadership and advisory input to ensure practitioners stay effective against evolving threats
- Key requirements
- Recognised technical security professional with expertise in Technical Surveillance Counter Measures (TSCM)
- Experience in developing, implementing or maintaining standards and competency frameworks
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving outcomes in security/government/defence environments
- Practical experience applying technical security countermeasures in operational settings
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Degree level or equivalent knowledge of engineering/scientific fundamentals underpinning TSCM (RF theory, applied physics, electronics, acoustics, DSP, etc.)
