At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings and courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech and a whole lot more. Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we’re on.
Our Digital and Data technology team are at the forefront of digital innovation. They provide best in-class solutions for our clients, helping to shape and support a data driven future for UK government. Whether it’s creating bespoke, secure software, offering programme and application support or moving an entire embassy’s servers to a Cloud platform. No matter the task, they are on hand to support.
Providing innovation to government partners. Working at the cutting-edge of technology. Apply technical know-how to protect national interests. From monitoring and investigating security alerts to identifying and escalating security incidents, this is a job where the stakes couldn’t be higher – and that’s why we need you.
You’ll find yourself analysing security event data to support customers, ensuring protective monitoring tools are functioning as expected, and helping report incidents to customers. Your keen eye for detail will ensure no hidden vulnerabilities in the system go unnoticed, and all potential weaknesses are identified and dealt with.
Teamwork is ingrained in you. You’ll be comfortable seeking advice from colleagues and mentors when needed, and communicating externally and internally with operational team members and service delivery managers. Your expertise and deep knowledge around ICT security systems will come in handy when you mentor apprentices and help your team develop and achieve best practices.
With a Level 3 qualification in IT, Cyber Security or a related field, you’ve got a solid grounding in tech and a good handle on networks and security. Perhaps you’ve worked with firewalls or other security tools before – that’s a bonus. If you’ve done any analytical work or you’re working towards certifications like CompTIA Security+ or SANS SEC511.3, even better. But just as key are your people skills. You’re a clear communicator, a team player, and someone your colleagues know they can count on.
You also know how to spot a threat and what to do when one hits. From analysing data and detecting intrusions to managing incidents and responding fast, you’re calm under pressure and quick to act. You understand the bigger picture too – using threat intelligence to assess risks and stay one step ahead. And when it comes to explaining complex tech to non-technical teams, you’re the one who makes it make sense.
Working with us, you’ll help keep people, information, and assets safe around the world. It’s a role you can feel proud of; and we aim to make every part of your career just as rewarding. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us.
Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It’s a great set of benefits made to support all you do and all you need.
Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. You can find out more about vetting at fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/.
