Focus on protecting some of the UK’s most sensitive security assets

When you join us in this significant front line role you’ll have an exciting opportunity to make a direct contribution to the UK’s national security as you work to protect some of the government’s most sensitive asserts. Acting as the team leader on UK and overseas technical security countermeasures activities, and partnering with our stakeholders to detect technical attacks, you’ll set the direction and scope of endpoint forensic investigations, and work on projects designed to research and identify technical security vulnerabilities. We’ll also expect you to develop and implement safe systems of work, ensuring your colleagues cooperate with risk assessments and comply with health and safety policies and procedures.

Your day-to-day work will include leading a supportive and collaborative team on installation and construction security assurance, technical security inspections, acoustic testing, radio frequency integrity testing and live monitoring, TEMPEST testing and other specialised tasks at UK and overseas locations. With a strong focus on meeting the highest standards relating to pre-deployment planning, preparing equipment for inspection, installing or maintaining equipment, and preparing written inspection reports, you’ll work on a range of R&D projects, and provide technical support and advice to your colleagues. Proposing innovative ideas that demonstrate a culture of continual improvement and efficiency, we’ll also expect you to support the triage of new requests for countermeasures, and maintain your own professional expertise relating to the latest technologies and best practice.

Use all your skills, knowledge and expertise as you support our global mission

With a Level 4 Security or Engineering qualification, or a Physics, Engineering or Technology based Level 3 qualification with the ability to obtain a Level 4 Security or Engineering qualification within five years of your appointment, you’ll have well developed experience of managing small teams, and practical knowledge of working with technical protective security systems. Highly motivated and with plenty of ingenuity, tenacity and creativity, you’ll have a strong interest in a wide range of practical technical skills, including electronics, IT, networks, mechanics and construction.

Knowledge of construction security procedures and administration would be desirable, as would an understanding of software development and programming, and radio principles. You’ll be required to travel regularly to locations in the UK and overseas – international trips may vary between one to six weeks, while UK travel will routinely involve overnight stays. With this in mind, you should have a flexible approach to your timetable, and be prepared to work at weekends and out of hours.

Discover the support you need to grow your career further

But we’re always looking to improve – just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It\'s a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.
